Content Addition

It seems that even I am capable of making some progress on things when I put a small portion of my mind to it.  I haven’t had a chance to post as of late, but I’m taking the opportunity now to inform you of a couple things.  I added a small amount of content to the site in hopes of moving incrementally closer to my goal of making this a more robust location.  The facts are clear to me now that the majority of anyone who may have been visiting here previously is now gone, but for those that have stayed I believe it will be to your benefit, if only some time in the future.

As we speak, or as I am typing to you, I am uploading ten new songs to the Auscultator.  Yes, it has persisted and survived the transfer of formats.  You should be able to see it there conveniently located on the right-hand side of the site (unless this post is archived in which case you may not see it).  I should have it updated some time here before slumbering off to bed.  The tracks are just a few of the excellent music selections that I have been treating my ears to as of late.  As always, if you enjoy any particular one, you can download it by right-clicking the song.  I do urge you however to purchase the full albums from these fine artists and support what they do.  It may be a hassle, but I believe it to be necessary and important.

You may have noticed that Cas has not posted any content since the move to the new site style.  This is not due to some kind of bitter fallout between the two of us since the comic ended – at least I assume this to be the case.  Frankly, I haven’t seen him online much recently myself.  As can be expected, I believe him to be wrapped up in life activities.  School, work, the care and utmost attention paid to a small canine.  These things are important and typically detract and distract from other, more extraneous habits.  I hope he uses this space to his liking as was my intention.  I do miss the view from which I could see the world hoisted by his words.

Other than that, not much else has been new in the life of myself.  As a quick follow-up to the work related story I posted a week or so ago, four people have since been “let go” due to a restructuring of the company while the rest of us are left to ponder our own fate.  Keep in mind that letting those four people go practically reduces our employee count by a fifth.  We have yet to understand the rationale for these firings and I assume such things will never be made clear.  It seems even in small company environments, management is still top-notch at responding to questions by opening their mouths and allowing a thick fog bellow forth to mask any sight of a true answer.  A skill that is the life force of their position.

I will probably have more anime reviews for you coming up soon.  I have picked up a few more new series that might be something you’re interested in.  I have no idea if that statement is factual or not.  I feel a bit like a grandmother talking tirelessly about how fascinating knitting kittens into pillows is or how much you could purchase goods for fifty years ago, but if using your blog for your own selfish purposes, talking about shit no one else would probably ever care about is wrong, then the entirety of the Internet doesn’t want to be right.

At any rate, the time seems to keep drifting onward and my eyes continue to slowly collapse in on themselves like a dying star.  I’ll do my best to be a bit more diligent with posting.  I hate to make promises in this type of medium, but really, knowing the time available to me it should be not difficult to accomplish this task.

Peace.

Narrowly Escaped

If you’ve spent the last couple years loitering around outside our e-convenience store, you probably are aware that I am a pretty big proponent for the end of the week. I wouldn’t say I’m a fan of endings. I don’t pine to view things collapse and burn as all are fated to do. I’m more an enthusiast of new beginnings. And Friday works as a kind of mobias strip or ouroboros, allowing for one to seamlessly transition into the other with a minimal amount of twisting or consumption of ones own tail.

This week could not have ended any quicker, however. The entirety of this past week has been extraordinarily bizarre. That isn’t really saying a lot coming from a guy who literally does the same shit every single day; I mean a change in the weather pattern would be interpreted as “bizarre”. Specifically work has been outside the norm, in as much, as strange occurrences seem to keep creeping up that throw me off my accustomed path.

Our customers really only demand one things from us: Make sure their website works so they can make all that fucking money. Being a web publishing company, this task seems simple, but this week we expanded beyond expectation and had a series of shit going wrong. Entire servers going down, small programming mistakes that translate into large problems. Today was no exception. Typically, I’m not a part of these catastrophic failures, but I guess you could say I was due.

Without getting into too much detail about the specifics of what lead up to my ultimate mistake, suffice it to say that while testing an e-mail functionality on our quality assurance site for a specific customer, the test e-mail that was intended to be sent to one – namely myself – was somehow amplified and attempted sending to one hundred thousand. Three times.

Yeah. Luckily, once I was aware of the dark gears I had set in motion, I ran down to the systems guys and they killed the bulk of the sends. So, in terms of damage, only about fifty-seven thousand e-mails actually were sent. Some being received by the same person multiple times. In actuality, the events that transpired weren’t entirely my fault as we had a safeguard setup to prevent mistakes of this magnitude from happening, but apparently that didn’t work and presumably was never working. So, good to know.

I didn’t actually get in any real trouble other than feeling stupid for being the cause or at minimum being involved. We ended the week as we have done in the past with drinking in the conference room and this week I think we deserved it. I feel good knowing I can probably rest easy this weekend and not really think about the blunders of the previous week. And I will most likely have a plethora of time to mull over my errors as the temperature in this state is reaching levels no living creature should have to endure and probably does not endure because upon coming in contact with it their life is immediately driven from their body.

So, sitting inside exposing my eyes to the healthy glow of my monitor seems like the best course of action. I’m sure my resolve will waiver at some point and I will bundle up and adorn garments meant to trick myself into thinking they can withstand numbers lower than zero. I can’t conceive of a reason at this point why I might be lured from my fervent dwelling, but much like a siren’s song, it will catch me off guard and by then it will be much too late. Peace.

Rosario + Vampire

One of the potential archetypes of posting you may see appear in this space a lot is that of a Japanese nature. More specifically, anime and all the splendor it has to offer. If you aren’t particularly into anime, then I suggest take some personal time, nerd up, and then come back for a second viewing.

Recently, a new anime season has started over in Japan and that means brand new shows to replace the old ones lost to the sands of time. I’ve got a couple new ones to share with you today. The first of which is Rosario + Vampire

Meet Tsukune Aono. He’s a regular high school student – as so many of these start out – but much to his surprise after a sudden transfer to a new school, he finds out that the school is not all it appears to be. This high school is actually a school for monsters! Yes, that’s right. I’ll do it again. Monsters! And while any normal person may be put off by a school filled with monsters, as you may be able to tell from the images above, Tsukune-san has already made a couple friends. Luckily for him, all students are required to remain in human form while at school and should never reveal themselves to the other students. Why? Well, apparently they are trying to teach these young Frankensteins how to live among humans. Whatever.

This new show pretty much falls under the fairly predictable story type of a “harem” anime. One douchebag guy, surrounded by over accentuated, nubile females, all in close proximity. The twist? They’re monsters. Only two episodes have thus far been released, so a real judgment is difficult to make, but it does seem mildly entertaining. The show seems to be aware of its over the top nature and doesn’t try to be something it isn’t. Frequent interruptions from a talking bat (portrayed as a hamster with wings – if a child drew it) don’t let you forget that the mood is going to remain pretty relaxed.

The other main character and Tsukune’s current “best friend” and breakfast in most cases is Moka Akashiya, a stereotypically curvaceous but alluring character (pictured above in pink). After meeting in a classically awkward way that only the Japanese could concoct, you find out that her secret identity is that of the super-rare, ultra elite S-rank monster; A Vampire. As far as I can predict, the majority of the series will be pretty formulaic and ultimately never climaxing in the raw sexual smorgasbord a show like this so often lacks. If you’re going to fill a show with one dude and like a hundred chicks all barely contained in their tiny outfits, might as well cut the already stretched fabric out of the equation.

If you have some extra time on your hands, I’d check this one out, if not for the ridiculous story and outrageous characters. The animation is pretty solid and I did actually laugh out loud at certain moments. So considering, it could be a lot worse.

Spice And Wolf

The second new anime of the season I wanted to point out is this one: Spice and Wolf. I’m not exactly sure what’s with the Noun plus Noun naming scheme this season has, but I can roll with it.

Spice And Wolf - Episode 02 Spice And Wolf - Episode 02
Spice And Wolf - Episode 02 Spice And Wolf - Episode 02

This series has caught my eye for sure. The story is that of a traveling merchant named Lawrence who very quickly ends up coming in contact with a young naked girl. Now, normally this is enough to hold my attention for prolonged periods of time, but I think it gets better. She is not only naked, but also has ears and a tail befitting of a wolf. Turns out she is actually some sort of wolf god, or so village people throughout the centuries have referred to her as. We have yet to learn if that is indeed her true identity.

Horo – our young naked wolfen deity – decides to tag along with Lawrence as it’s her best bet to travel back to her homeland in the north. Lawrence decides it best to dress her and cover up her clearly non-human characteristics. They continue their travels as husband and wife. There seems to be a clear sort of odd sexual chemistry between the two, perhaps mostly due to one of them being nude most of the time and not really ashamed of the fact.

Again, the animation feels solid. The characters are likable and the story is intriguing especially at this early stage in its development as we still don’t yet know what truly lies ahead for our two heroes. So far, the show has felt very relaxed and is just an enjoyable watch, but something tells me it may not remain that way throughout. If you’re down with an almost sci-fi love story, then I’d suggest checking this one out. Similarly with Rosario+Vampire, only two episodes have aired and the total number are unknown.

I spend a fairly large portion of my evening time partaking in these eastern flavors, so you may want to get used to this kind of thing. If you’re interested in either of these shows or anime in general, feel free to check out the forums where if asked I can provide further information for those seeking knowledge.

Peace.

The Second Coming

No, no, not of Jesus.  You might be waiting for a while for that guy to return.  Slow ass.  But, in the mean time, we have returned.  I guess.  After the ending of Caveat Lector – The Comic, I knew in my mind that I wished for this site to live on and transmuting it using some kind of digital alchemy seemed like the key.  I’m not sure the end result is gold, per se, but it definitely is not what it was.

If you’re curious as to what this space will now be used for; that’s a legitimate and annoying question.  Mostly because I probably don’t have a sincere answer for you.  But, the plan is to continue with business as usual.  Well, all other business minus comic duties.  We spent over two years making some e-friends and acquaintances and we would hate to lose you.

Essentially this space will now be reserved for and manipulated into a conduit for our darkened minds.  A sieve to filter out all the things cluttering the subregions of our consciousness.  I would like to get all the old content loaded up here into WordPress soon so as not to disrupt any service.  I don’t know how much of the old content is still considered a “hot item”, if it ever was, but it will still be accessible as soon as I get it relinked.

Right now, the site is a little bare bones.  I just wanted to get the minimal requirements up before pushing this thing out the door.  So, you may see things change in the coming weeks, but nothing to major is on the horizon.  Mostly, you’ll probably be seeing much of the same in terms of content from us.  Reviews of games or anime or any other silly thing I like.  Rants from us about things we hate.  You know, the same stuff any other blog probably produces.

At any rate, this is just sort of a quick test posting just to feel it out.  I’ll have to spend a little more time getting used to all this first, but once that awkward phase is out of the way, content may be pouring like rain.  That is, if the forecast calls for rain…so some times.  I don’t really know.  Peace.
